Role Description

This is a contract, remote role for a Masaai Translator. The Translator will be responsible for accurately translating written texts from and into Masaai while preserving the original meaning, tone, and cultural nuances. Additional responsibilities include proofreading translated materials, conducting context research to ensure translation accuracy, and working collaboratively with the editorial team. The role also involves adapting content to resonate with specific audiences while maintaining linguistic integrity.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Masaai and English, with exceptional understanding of grammar, syntax, and cultural contexts
• Demonstrated skills in written translation, proofreading, and editing
• Ability to conduct research for cultural and contextual accuracy in translations
• Experience in adapting content to suit diverse audiences and platforms
• Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
• Familiarity with translation software or tools is a plus
• Previous experience in publishing, linguistics, or a related field is an advantage
• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, or a relevant field preferred
