Sr. Specialist, Content Translation(F/M) - Cotonou - Français/Anglais
Job DescriptionThe Sr. Specialist Content Translation is responsible for leading and analyzing the translation of English language content according to all relevant standards and guidelines, using target-group-specific tone and style. This position creates effective learning and development content from one spoken or written language to another, while managing overall project plans.
Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities
- Accurately translates English-language eLearning, instructor led training, video narration, and email communications for non-English-Speaking audiences at an average rate of 9+ words per minute.
- Conducts quality analysis of translations completed by internal staff and vendors to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of words used; provides constructive feedback to original translator to highlight and resolve existing errors as well as to assist in the prevention of similar errors in the future.
- Creates non-English subtitle files for use with eLearning and video content and coordinates with design team to ensure translated subtitle files are implemented correctly.
- Records and edits audio narration for non-English-speaking audiences
- Creates, maintains, and follows project plans for multi-stage translation efforts and proactively keeps stakeholders, project participants, and their direct supervisor apprised of project status.
- Directly manages end-user SharePoint site translation efforts for target language -- Building and maintaining non-English versions of key pages, articles, and sites for assigned projects within the on- and off-premise SharePoint servers.
- Participates in project activities/meetings as requested for updates/metrics/evaluation purposes
- Mentors and facilitates best-practice learning sessions for peers and translation volunteers; coordinates and leads volunteers/interns assisting with high-volume work.
- Supports translation efforts for other teams/initiatives when needed
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred in related field from a four-year college or university with 3 - 5 Years of Experience preferred
- Sense of professionalism and ability to develop relationships.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter, sense of urgency, and works well under pressure, ability to take initiative
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet timelines on deliverables.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Requirements
- Degree in Linguistics, Translation, or equivalent preferred
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Translation (CAT) required
- Basic knowledge of SharePoint site page design/development, preferred
