Localization Project Manager

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Localization Project Manager to support a busy, high-volume legal translation program. This role focuses on the day-to-day ownership and execution of translation projects, working closely with the Translation Program Manager, internal stakeholders, and external language service providers.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, hands-on PM who is comfortable independently investigating questions, resolving issues, and exercising excellent judgment. We aren't necessarily looking for deep, senior-level strategy experience; rather, we need someone with curiosity, strong follow-through, and an eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Project Ownership: Manage translation projects from intake through delivery, including setup, vendor coordination, scheduling, tracking, and query management.
  • Instruction & Risk Management: Review incoming requests for completeness, flag dependencies, and develop clear, thorough project instructions for vendors.
  • Monitoring & Quality Assurance: Proactively monitor timelines, follow up on outstanding items, and perform strict delivery checks to confirm files meet key requirements.
  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve workflow issues independently where possible, escalating appropriately to the Translation Program Manager.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date project information across project management and translation platforms.
  • Workflow Optimization: Identify and support opportunities to improve or automate workflows, utilizing AI and other tools to boost quality, consistency, and efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Experience: Several years of hands-on translation/localization project management experience, managing projects from request to final delivery.
  • Core Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to juggle multiple concurrent deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong written communication skills with a track record of crafting clear, concise instructions for external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with translation management systems, localization QA, and common file formats (experience with WorldServer and Wrike is a major plus).
  • AI Adaptability: Comfort leveraging AI tools in day-to-day management (e.g., validating instructions, supporting QA checks, streamlining repetitive tasks).
  • Working Style: A proactive, collaborative, and accountable approach, with the ability to thrive in an evolving environment where processes aren't always fully defined.
