At The Action Sports Translator – the only specialized localization and content agency working exclusively with outdoor and action sports brands – we're looking for a freelance Crowdin localization engineer or translation project manager with extensive Crowdin experience to join our team.
Due to increased demand, we're bringing on additional technical support as we scale. You'll work alongside our existing loc engineers and PMs to deliver complex, multi-language localization projects for some of the biggest outdoor and action sports brands in the world.
📍 Fully remote within CET / GMT / EEST
We're only considering applicants within the listed time zones. If you're outside these zones (e.g., GMT+4, GMT+5, PST, EST, IST, etc.), we won't be able to move forward with your application.
🤝 Freelance, project-based collaboration
Hours are flexible – projects can run for several weeks or months at a time and require more or less involvement depending on the phase.
📆 Start date: as soon as possible
🎯 Main responsibilities
– Setting up and configuring Crowdin / Crowdin Enterprise projects from scratch
– Building and maintaining connector integrations between Crowdin and client platforms (with main focus on Shopify)
– Managing content import/export and sync flows between client platforms and Crowdin – pulling source content in, pushing translations back, and troubleshooting sync issues when they come up. including liaising directly with Crowdin support when needed
– Running technical QA on translated content – previewing translations in-context (especially on Shopify storefronts across locales), catching rendering, metafield and layout issues before go-live
– Designing segmentation rules, TM strategies and workflow logic to maximize efficiency and quality
– Joining client calls as the technical voice in the room - answering platform questions, flagging blockers and walking clients through technical workflow decisions
– Drafting technical responses to client questions on platform capabilities, integrations and workflow setup
– Identifying technical risks and edge cases early (e.g. content that isn't translatable through standard flows) and proposing solutions
– Documenting setups and workflows so they're maintainable by the wider team
– Collaborating closely with our PMs and other loc engineers throughout project lifecycles
🫵 What we are looking for
– Extensive, hands-on experience with Crowdin / Crowdin Enterprise – this is non-negotiable
– Strong attention to detail – this role involves a lot of granular technical setup (segmentation rules, TM logic, QA across locales) where small misses create big problems downstream
– Proactive, driven mindset – you spot issues before they become blockers and don't wait to be told what to do next
– Comfort being client-facing – joining calls, answering platform questions live, and drafting clear technical responses to clients
– Strong written and verbal English communication skills
– Ability to work independently while collaborating well as part of a distributed team
– Set up as a freelancer and available to start ASAP
– Ideally into outdoor sports, though exceptionally this isn't a non-negotiable requirement for this role :)
– Basic coding or scripting understanding
– Major bonus: experience with complex ecommerce localization, especially Shopify
💛 Why you'll love it
– Work with some of the biggest outdoor and action sports brands in the world
– Fully remote, flexible hours, project-based
– Join a tight-knit team helping brands deliver native experiences across languages and markets
– Long-term collaboration potential as we continue to scale
