About Wevox

Wevox is a team experience platform that helps organizations understand and improve employee engagement, team dynamics, and workplace experience.

We started in Japan, and we’re now taking Wevox to new markets, with Australia and Vietnam as some of the places we’re actively exploring. As we grow globally, localization is becoming a key part of how we make the product feel natural, useful, and easy to understand for users outside Japan.

Wevox is built by Atrae, a flat-structure company where ownership is real and decisions happen close to the work. We don’t separate “thinking” and “doing” too much. People are encouraged to notice problems, suggest better ways of working, and help shape both the product and the organization.

That’s why this role is not just about translating text. We’re looking for someone who can help us make Wevox communicate naturally in English, while also improving the workflows, tools, glossaries, and processes behind our localization work.

If you care about language, product experience, and building something that can scale beyond Japan, this is a role where you can help shape both how Wevox speaks to the world and how our localization program grows.

About the Role

We are looking for a bilingual JP → EN Localization Specialist to support product localization, internal localization workflows, and the ongoing development of our localization program.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, designers, engineers, and other Wevox team members. Most communication with the wider team will be asynchronous, and the PM will be your main interface for prioritization, context sharing, and final decision-making.

The ideal candidate is someone who can translate with professional quality, understand product context deeply, and think beyond individual translation tasks to build scalable localization operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate and localize Japanese product content into natural, professional English.
  • Handle product UI text, help center content, release notes, specifications, and other product-related materials.
  • Understand product requirements, internal documentation, and team communication in Japanese.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to clarify intent, tone, and edge cases.
  • Help build and maintain localization workflows, not just execute translation tasks.
  • Manage and improve glossaries, style guides, terminology rules, and translation quality standards.
  • Work with TMS/localization tools such as Phrase or similar systems.
  • Review localized content for consistency, clarity, usability, and product fit.
  • Provide suggestions to improve localization operations, tooling, and collaboration flows.
  • Support async communication across product, design, engineering, and business teams.
  • Explore responsible use of AI/LLM-assisted localization where appropriate.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Professional-level Japanese-to-English translation ability.
  • Strong Japanese reading comprehension, especially for product specs, internal communication, and technical/product documentation.
  • Ability to produce natural, clear, and user-friendly English, not just literal translation.
  • Experience or strong understanding of localization workflows and operations.
  • Familiarity with TMS or localization tools, such as Phrase or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote and async environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Collaborative mindset: able to provide input and recommendations while respecting that the PM owns final product decisions.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and asking good questions when context is missing.
  • Interest in improving systems and workflows, not only completing assigned tasks.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience in SaaS or software product localization.
  • Experience managing glossaries, style guides, tone guidelines, or terminology databases.
  • Technical comfort with APIs, scripting, Python, CLI tools, or Phrase API.
  • Basic understanding of software development workflows.
  • UI/UX or design awareness, especially around how translated text appears in product interfaces.
  • Experience with AI or LLM-assisted localization workflows.
  • Background in B2B SaaS, HR tech, productivity tools, or organizational development.
  • Experience or strong interest in creative fields such as writing, editing, design, content, or communication.
  • Experience working with distributed or international teams.

Who You Might Be

You may be a good fit if you are someone who:

  • Cares deeply about language quality, but also understands product goals.
  • Can translate the intention behind words, not only the words themselves.
  • Enjoys building better workflows and improving how teams collaborate.
  • Can work independently without needing constant direction.
  • Is comfortable communicating asynchronously.
  • Can balance precision, speed, and practicality.
  • Wants to contribute to a product’s global expansion, not just complete translation tasks.
  • Is willing to partner with PMs, designers, and engineers to make the product experience better for users.

What This Role Is Not

This is not a role where you simply receive Japanese text and return English translations.

We are looking for someone who can become a localization partner for the product team. You will help us improve how localization is planned, executed, reviewed, and maintained over time.

You do not need to make final product decisions, but we expect you to proactively share insights, identify risks, and suggest better ways to work.

Working Style

  • Full-time position.
  • Full-remote work is welcome.
  • Most collaboration with the wider Wevox team will happen asynchronously.
  • The Product Manager will be the main point of contact.
  • We value clear communication, autonomy, and thoughtful collaboration.
  • Seniority is open. We care more about fit, ownership, and quality than years of experience.

Why Join Us

Localization will play a key role in Wevox’s global expansion.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape not only how Wevox speaks English, but also how our localization system operates as we grow. You will work closely with a product team that values thoughtful communication, high-quality user experience, and long-term product development.

If you enjoy language, product thinking, and building better systems, this role could be a strong fit.
