Job Description

The Translator position is responsible for translating original Japanese manga into English.

You will create English translations that naturally resonate with English-speaking readers while accurately understanding the dialogue, character voices, pacing, and overall tone of the work.

You will translate in accordance with Orange’s guidelines and series-specific rules, ensuring consistency in terminology, character names, proper nouns, and character voices. You may also use AI tools as needed to improve translation quality and work efficiency.

・Translate original Japanese manga into English・Create natural English translations that reflect the meaning, tone, and character voices of the original text・Ensure consistency in terminology, character names, proper nouns, and character voices・Work in accordance with Orange’s guidelines, series-specific rules, and instructions within the localization tool・Use AI and translation support tools as needed・Consult with the Production Coordinator or Translation Director when clarification is needed

Required Qualifications

・Native-level English proficiency・Ability to read and understand original Japanese manga・Ability to write natural English dialogue suitable for manga・Ability to express character voices and the tone of the work in English・Ability to work carefully and follow guidelines and instructions・Availability to work at least 20 hours per week

Preferred Skills & Experience

・Experience in translating manga, anime, games, or other entertainment content・Experience in publishing, editing, proofreading, or localization・Experience using translation support tools or AI tools・Understanding of Japanese manga culture and genre conventions
