With the launch of Eacon Mining Technology Australia Pty Ltd in December 2023 and with the significant milestones of 2024, we have not only established our new office in West Perth but have also expanded collaboration with our partners and clients. We are rapidly growing, and as such, we are looking for talented professionals to join our thriving team in Perth.

We are seeking an additional experienced Interpreter/Translator with Australian mining experience for 3-6 months engagement to provide critical bilingual communication support across a busy mining operation, ensuring clear, accurate and timely translation between Mandarin and English. This is a site-based role reporting to AHS Project Supervisor and operates on an 8/6 roster (8 days on followed by 6 days off). You will be working closely with AHS Support Technicians, Test Engineer, site personnel and internal teams to ensure safe, efficient and collaborative daily operations by translating technical, operational and safety information in both verbal and written formats.

Moreover, this role will support meetings, training, toolbox talks and ad hoc operational discussions, helping bridge language and cultural gaps across a multicultural workforce. This role will also assist with general administrative tasks and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information. This role will report to the AHS Site Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

As our Interpreter/Translator, your responsibilities consist of the following.

• Provide accurate verbal and written translation between Mandarin and English.
• Facilitate effective communication between Mandarin-speaking AHS Support Technicians and English-speaking site personnel.
• Support daily operational meetings, toolbox talks, training sessions and technical discussions.
• Translate technical, operational and safety-related information as required.
• Assist with communication between internal teams, contractors and customer representatives.
• Help ensure work instructions, procedures and safety requirements are clearly understood by all personnel.
• Support professional working relationships across multicultural teams.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive business or operational information.
• Assist with the execution of ad hoc administrative and support tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria

• At least three years of previous experience working in mining, construction, heavy industry or similar operational environments.
• Experience working on FIFO rosters or shift-based work arrangements.
• Exposure to technical, maintenance, operational or safety-related terminology.
• Experience supporting multicultural teams.
• Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.

• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately translate technical and operational information.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote mining environment.
